Rosacea

CLINICAL DERMATOLOGY

Rosacea

It is a chronic inflammatory disease that, while it doesn't go away, can be managed with treatments that help minimize flare-ups, control the condition, and improve the patient's quality of life.

It presents as persistent central facial redness, although it can also affect the chest, ears, and scalp.

This redness temporarily intensifies (known as flushing) and can be triggered by heat, cold, wind, certain foods, emotional stress, exercise, alcohol, and more. There's a long list of possible differential diagnoses!! Seeing a dermatologist is essential to get the correct diagnosis. Did you know it can affect the eyes? That's why a check-up with an ophthalmologist is also recommended.

Today there are multiple treatment options (creams, pills, and even laser therapy), each with a precise indication that varies from patient to patient.
